How To Take Care Of Real Christmas Trees
According to some, real Christmas trees make the feeling of Christmas more meaningful. The feeling of picking a real Christmas tree, maintaining it, and decorating it, will make the season more enjoyable and more meaningful. But first, you have to choose a healthy tree. If you will buy the tree from a tree farm, choose one that is still planted on the ground, and not the trees that have been cut down several weeks ago. Avoid choosing a tree that is full of dead branches or withering leaves or needles. To make the tree look fresh and alive, you have to do some maintenance care. That way, the freshness of the tree will be preserved all throughout the Christmas season.

First, you have to choose the perfect location for your Christmas tree. To preserve the freshness of the real Christmas trees, they should be kept away from heat sources. Thus, you have to choose a location that is far from flames or the fire place. The heat from the fire or from the sun will dry the tree and will make them wither fast. The corner is the best place to place the Christmas tree because it is less likely to be knocked over. If you plan to decorate the tree with Christmas lights, make sure that you are going to use bulbs that are heat efficient. The LED Christmas lights are the best lights to be used on the real tree because the LED lights do not dissipate too much heat. However, you must always remember to switch off the lights when not in use.

Cut the base of the tree to aid water absorption. You cannot bring the whole tree with soil inside your house so you have to cut it. From the bottom of the tree, cut at least half an inch or one inch using a hand saw. That way, the trunk can absorb the water, and the water helps in keeping the tree fresh and green. Cut it straight, and not V-cut or slanting because these types of cut will not help the trunk to absorb water. Do not make holes on the trunk of the real Christmas trees as well. After cutting a part of the trunk of the tree, do not expose it to heat because this may dry the tree.

Prepare a mount for the tree. The best stand or mount for real Christmas trees is a container that can hold at least a gallon of water. The tree will absorb the water from the container so the container should hold enough water for the tree. You should cover the floor where you are going to place the Christmas tree as well. A tree skirt or a piece of satin cloth can be used to cover the floor where the base of tree is laid. This will protect the floor from any spills when you are watering the tree and protect the floor from damage. Use Christmas coloured cloth to cover the floor so that it will serve as a decoration as well.
